Byte Night - Action for Children
Andy Bennison Blog, Charity
Last night, Suzanne and I attended the inaugural Leeds Byte Night Launch event. Well, what an emotional and humbling evening it turned out to be, listening to stories of those less fortunate who’ve been supported in extremely vulnerable positions.
Supporting local charities has always been a passion of ours, and given the opportunity to raise money for Action for Children, it seemed like a no-brainer. So it's official, we’ve signed up to sleep out at Elland Road on Friday 5th October in support of Action for Children.
Action for Children are a fantastic charity who support any vulnerable person, be that through homelessness, asylum seeking, refugee, dire needs and most specifically for the local region: youth pregnancy. One of the presentations given by Rachel and Sue from Action for Children was about Baby Steps – an NSPCC ante-natal programme supporting vulnerable young mums, from 25 weeks pregnant to 5/6 months post-pregnancy.
We have supported Byte Night teams in the past, and 2018 – Byte Night’s 21st birthday – will be the first year we will be submitting a team of our own. If you’d like to sponsor us, please do so on the JustGiving page linked below.
Please speak to one of the team if you would like to hear more about Byte Night or Action for Children, or visit https://www.bytenight.org.uk/ or https://www.actionforchildren.org.uk/ to read more.
