How running a marathon compares to a job interview

Natasha Harrison Blog, CV & Interview Tips, Charity...

Whilst currently training for the London marathon, it occurred to me that there are many similarities between running a marathon and going to a job interview.

You can’t just show up with no prep and bust out 26.2 miles, it is important to prepare for running such a long distance, and the same applies to preparing for an interview. So, you need to figure out what to wear, where to park and remember not to eat anything funky the night before!

Secondly, positivity is key – if you don’t believe you can do it, chances are you probably can’t. I feel you need to be committed to the process and determined to be successful. Don’t worry about the competition and focus on yourself!

Pace yourself – as many say, remember it is a marathon, not a sprint. Start your day on the right foot and take a moment to realise this is your opportunity to shine. It is ok to take your time to think about your answers in an interview, as is taking the time to find your pace whilst running.

Do you want to feel that sense of achievement and that all your hard work has paid off? Let’s see how we can help you over the finish line.
